Crossroads of Ukrainian History — Virtual Exhibition of Ukrainian Cultural Heritage

Virtual Exhibition of Ukrainian Archaeological Artifacts

Crossroads of Ukrainian History is an open-access virtual exhibition that provides free online access to 25 unique archaeological artifacts revealing the multi-layered history of Ukraine. Some of the exhibits originate from territories that are currently temporarily occupied or inaccessible due to the war, making their digital preservation especially crucial.

The project was created by the Ukrainian NGO Archaic in partnership with the international non-profit organization CyArk and the Odesa Archaeological Museum of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Its goal is to preserve, promote, and reinterpret Ukrainian cultural heritage through digital technologies.

Why It Matters

The exhibition brings together 25 high-quality 3D models of archaeological artifacts, each telling a story about the peoples and cultures that shaped Ukraine over thousands of years. All objects were digitized with high precision and are accompanied by expert commentary from Ukrainian archaeologists and researchers.

The virtual format makes it possible to explore artifacts that cannot currently be displayed physically due to security risks or restricted access. The exhibition is free, does not require registration, and can be viewed directly in a web browser on a smartphone or computer.

Why It Matters

Ukrainian cultural heritage is under constant threat as a result of the ongoing war. Digital documentation and 3D preservation of archaeological sites and museum collections are among the most effective ways to safeguard this heritage for future generations.

Crossroads of Ukrainian History demonstrates how modern technologies can serve as tools for protecting memory, identity, and historical continuity even in times of crisis.
